WOYWW #211

Despite being home most of the day - just popped out for some groceries - I was still unprepared for this week's trek across the globe... its now 8pm and I have just taken my photos and settled in - for Brisbane Australia its flippin freezin'!!

I took a minute to have a really quick peep at Speshink 'cos Marks blog was on top of my reading list and I couldn't resist - he has converted a Tando-Creative advent calendar into a Dalek - looks amazing... pop over if you get a chance...

OK now for my puny little desk which compared to most is clean as a whistle... don't know whether to feel guilty or proud LOL

I was all set up for photographing so left it there so you could all see how sophisticated it is - and maybe explain why I have a hard time getting my photos right sometimes...
Not a lot of natural light so its all under artificial light - sometimes they look fab others look disgusting... but then I am no expert either.

Now for the breakdown:

Mucking around with my 2 new poinsettia dies - the two strips of marbled paper are actually side bits off pre-printed stationery... looks like Chrissy cards will be a major focus for me as I get nearer to putting my creations into a shop for sale - my cousin is kindly giving me a bit of space in his PAWN shop at Beenleigh Traders [this is their FB link] - so I am very grateful...

Finally deconstructed the baby shower invite and have already used some of it - still have some blossoms and cats floating around and it may be hard to see but I saw how to use a die to create an embossed image and gave it a go using my honeycomb die - its all just a matter of getting the sandwich right - and it looks good - so my envy over not having a honeycomb ef has immediately disappeared now... oh and hiding underneath all this is a list of blog challenges that I am working on - the list I mean - so many blogs out there so little time...

I have read 6 1/2 zombie books so far - and my daughter gave me In The Company of Ogres to read - which sounds in the same vein - bit it isn't - if any one knows Hitchikers Guide to The Galaxy and the other books by Douglas Adams - this book is in that genre - it is hilarious the author is A. Lee Martinez. The dvd on top is a copy of Mama - the "horror" movie that was out recently - daughter again wants me to watch it... maybe... The dragonfly and snail stamp are out of a borrowed Stampin Up set - the hearts are self adhesive from a sale at Lincraft... and of course haven't done my sports cards yet... but I have 2 full days left of my holidays so watch this space...

There you go - apart from the Lindt Caramel Chocolate Balls - replacing the maltesers on my desk it is as tidy as ever...

If you do want to check out other creative workdesks around the world - hop over to the Stamping Ground where Julia Dunnit hosts the biggest and bestest blog hop in the world
[that's what I reckon anyway]...

Thanks for stopping by... Mxx

  1. Good luck with the new venture - hope you sell lots and lots of cards and then you can buy lots and lots of goodies. LOL
Know what you mean about no natural light - my room has a window opening onto another room so I need the lights on the whole time - shadows for photography. Luckily we are in a bungalow so it is only a side step to the bedroom where most of my stuff gets photographed.
    Love the wip.
Thanks for visiting me earlier - have a good week - Hugs, Neet 16 xx

  2. Funnily enough DD got the book Warm Bodies attached to a magazine, which I read. It's a bit like the French TV series The Returned, in the sense that the Zombies are not The Walking Dead kind, but more .... appealing? Not too sure about Mama - saw an ad, looked too full of the "spring-loaded cat" moments. I can stand a bit of gore, but I hate those surprise shock moments. I find that harder to watch. Anyway, back to craftiness :) good luck with the fair, and how clever - a blog challenge list! V V Organized, aren't you!?

    Happy WOYWW!

  3. Now that is a lovely tidy space... blimey, its definitely a bit nippy here in Brisbane, isn't it? My house just doesn't want to warm up and the cats sit about with the noses in their tails pleading for hot bean bags! LOL Good luck with the cards for sale... I'll know where to come when I don't get mine done in time!! Happy WOYWW from Annette #9

  6. Yes, I'm afraid I'm very dependent on catching the natural light when I'm photographing my work. I need to get more sophisticated! It's funny how we really don't know whether to feel proud or guilty when our worktables are clean. Love it! Happy WOYWW! Thanks for visiting me too! Sandy Leigh #22

  7. You should sell heaps of cards and yes it is really cold down in Melbourne too. I don't know what is happening, someone told me we are in for the coldest winter in a very long time. I don't even know what happened to summer.

  13. Fantastic post, Maureen! Lots to see and hear about! I do the same thing with graduation card announcements - I deconstruct them and make them into my congratulations card. It is so fun and makes it so personal!

I'll leave you to your zombies (no thank you!) and hope you have a wonderful week! Thank you for stopping in to the Playhouse and letting me know you came by! Darnell #20

  20. Hi, thanks for swinging by my blog. Top tip for you, if you are no expert and shooting under artificial light, try using a shade of grey or cream for your 'studio' you don't get so much glare...Also I use befunky.com for 'retouching' mine - it's online, free and easy to use. I haven't started Christmas yet - what with the move I am not sure where (or if) I'll be selling - great to have a confirmed space. Cx #33

  21. You have a super tidy desk!! I think you have a great idea for taking photos! I use a white box to take my pictures in, and USUALLY they come out pretty good, but sometimes......

  22. Now remember..do not take unsolds personally..your cards are lovely, they just don't suit whoever was looking at the time. Refresh the selection regularly and don't let them get dusty. Bossy aren't I!! Good luck, it's very exciting to get your stock out there!

  23. I wish you hadn't mentioned Lindt Caramel Balls! It's morning tea time here (Sydney) and I have to go to the dentist in half an hour so I shall look forward to my apple :( when I get back!
You've got a lot going on there, for such a tidy desk! I've got a stash of marbled paper not being used because it is "too good" :)
Have a good week (and thanks for stopping by), RosA # 24
