WOYWW #217

Yay - thank goodness my "blogger" issues rectified themselves in time - I was fretting and now realise how addicted I am to my little blog & hooking up with people across the globe - I managed to get around to all my new found friends on T for Tuesday over at Altered Book Lover earlier tonight and now its WOYWW time!!!! If you would like to join in the jaunt around the globe pop on over to Stamping Ground where Julia Dunnit hosts her little heart out!!!

Paper galore for me - I have decided to get stuck into those little pads of free paper that come with crafty magazines...

Of course I still have borrowed stamps in view so I make sure I use them...and my daughter has let me borrow The Life of Pi as I didn't get to see it at the movies... now for the little close up
Oh I am such a paper addict ... so pretty...

Oh and a bit remiss of me - welcome to some new friends

Large Green Blossom

I seriously had no idea where this card was going when I started... The green background dp was free in a magazine quite a while ago, The Hero Arts Large Blossom was inked up with versamark and embossed using bridal ep...all shimmery and nice then twinkling H20's in pear blossom - but it was all blending into one big blur so I outlined the stamp base in Zig black gel pen and then for some reason just kept going... outlining the actual blossoms as well...
When I looked for a black sentiment the vertical birthday stuck out - but not the positive - the negative of one I had previously used... all mounted on a white linen base... it all just came together...

I am linking up with Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground with this creation - Di had to link up my last card due to my internet issues ... Thanks Di xx

Clutch Bag

There I said it all in the title - when I was mucking around with a doily stamp I decided it was a tad too large to fit the whole thing on a C6 card so cut one in half - then I stuck half to a card and presto - that looks like the top of one of those really really expensive clutch bags - then I took ages to work out how to get the bag bit underneath - so silly to stick something down before working it all out - that's where the paper piecing came in - so I could stick little slithers under the doily...

Once I had that all worked out - what to use as the sentiment - I had a sticker where the happy was already removed and decided - maybe it could represent a hint to a budding suitor that a handbag is a great present and lo n behold - they were talking about just that on the telly ... its funny how things just come together sometimes...

Materials used: Stampin Up Hello Doily cling stamp - have to share - it was way too large for my blocks so after advice from my sister - I laid it down face up - inked it up with versamark and laid my cardstock over the top then pressed down with my hands - lifted the card stock and embossed with gold ep...  dp free from a magazine, hand drawn clasp with black Zig gel pen and bling flower and card stock from stash

WOYWW #216

Happy WOYWW to one and all... just thought I'd quickly log in for a few minutes before work and holey moley - Julie has opened the trek early YAY!! ....

Not too much has changed as far as what is on my desk - as you know I borrowed stamps from a friend and am slowly working my way through them - I have spread them out a little bit more - having only used only 2 of them in the past week...

If you want to trek across the globe and get some creative inspiration head over to Stamping Ground where our hostess Julia Dunnit does a fantastic job of linking us all together...

Finally some images of a few cards created during the week...

Serene Christmas

Borrowed from Amanda - this stamp is causing a few issues - it just wont cling... I had to spritz the block to get the stamp to stay in place but when inking still had to reposition the stamp as it kept moving - I now understand why a stamp press would come in handy but as the stamp isn't very large... needless to say my friend wants to return it as there is no way she would have the patience to ink and stamp this out 100 times for an order she has... its such a pity cos even though I am not religious this is quite a nice image.

T for Tuesday #2

I just got home - stripped off & into my house clothes - we don't wear our house clothes in public!! Make myself a vegemite sandwich and a drink and turn onto blogging... boing - Voodoo Vixen has already posted for this week - that's right its Tuesday... so I grab the camera and voila...

No set up this time - this is how it is - you know you are getting over the hill when you have a pair of specs for everything - the white are for distance, the purple are for close work at the PC & stuff, I have another pair beside the bed for up close reading - can't even walk to the loo in those ones cos its so fuzzy... and of course I finally got me a pair of prescription sunnies - of the distance kind... whew - 4 pairs of glasses... I'm only 50 - what the heck is coming next??!! LOL - the TV remote and the ph within easy reach... and of course you can see my vegi sanger waiting for a bite...

My water bottle is never very far away - carry one everywhere - my choice of drink this week is mineral water with Pickfords Lemon Lime & Bitters cordial... surely the most superior brand ever - their cranberry is just delish, and the lemon barley etc etc...

I must thank everyone for visiting me and saying such nice things after our inaugural posting - I thought maybe I'd been a bit over the top - but not so by the lovely comments... and funnily enough that tower of strength I was talking about is once again stepping into the fray for me - I rang her out of the blue to ask if she would be my reference as I have to apply for my own job due to restructure realignments happening in the workplace... different name same result!! She didn't hesitate... of course... I had one week to prep my resume, covering letter and sit for an interview now have to wait almost 2 weeks to see if I got it... makes me mad - "management" had a month's warning to get their act together - but we workers well get your skates on or else... of course if you don't apply then you just are not interested in working are you... wish I could afford to stay home and play every day!!

Just while I am here - thanks to my lovely little bunch of followers - I actually hit # 13 today - unlucky for some but one of my fave numbers!!
Welcome to "Planetsusie" I will be heading over for a gander shortly...

Birthday Strips

I have used strips of cardstock in the past and while sorting snippets found my stash of card offcuts and thought it was time to use up some more...

So starting with the strips on the left and sticking them down on the right results in one very easy male birthday card...

I added a touch of clear Kindyglitz to the bottom of each strip just for a bit of "glamour" LOL - and a sentiment sticker from my stash... Seriously it looks so much better IRL...

I have another card on the go using strips also but it isn't quite finished yet - thinking of adding a flower or two...

Heart of Life Duo

Borrowed things are so surreal - I tend to create something and then wish what was borrowed was mine - but I am learning there is no point stamping and embossing heaps of things for future use as its never easy to predict what colours etc you will need... so I am now going with the flow and creating with them while I have them...

The Cuttlebug embossing folder is borrowed from Chris & the Stampin Up sentiment is borrowed from Amanda - two fabulous crafty friends...

Materials used: Cuttlebug ef, Stampin Up sentiment, silver ep, silver Zig gel pen, Tim Holtz Broken Glass distress ink, Colorbox  blue & green inks from their rainbow box, Quickutz Nesting Scallops die, card stock from stash.

T for Tuesday #1

Hi there - the lovely Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover had a stroke of inspiration and has started the T for Tuesday bloggie hop... post a photo of your workspace with a drinking vessel in it and relate a story relating to T for Tuesday - you don't have to drink T to be in it....

My inaugural post is a little bit of a set up as being the first I didn't have anything prepared - but it gives me an opportunity to share where my head goes every time I have a cup of coffee from my now favourite mug...

The mug actually belonged to a boss I had not that long ago... she was my Manager and was / is an inspiration to me - I worked with her for 6 years and in that time her strength, determination and attitude would inspire anyone who knew what she was going through... of course she shall remain nameless but anyone that knows her will recognise this story...

Firstly her 23 year old daughter who had just given the family the first granddaughter 6 months before hand was diagnosed with MS - a stressful time investigating, learning, and praying. 6 months later she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer - chemo, radio, hair loss etc - and still able to meet and greet with the biggest smile and most positive attitude... then another 6 months and her mother took ill and passed away - the dread we all have to face at some time in our lives - but while dealing with the other issues - strength shone through  - next her house was flooded and no she didn't lose everything but the costs of flood cannot be counted when old photos and mementos cannot be replaced... I hate to say it but then still dealing with everything the cancer continued to ravage and further chemo and a mastectomy was faced - meanwhile she was supporting me going through a separation and relocation from my family home with my then 9 year old daughter... she was also still managing an IT Service Desk with 12 staff - it took its toll and she decided to go for extended leave and then to retire - and joy of joys - she got married to her best friend of 25 years who had during all this time gone through his own separation and divorce....

Why share all this with everyone??
Its to let you know where I gain my inspiration to pull my boot straps up and get on with it... and I was lucky enough to score this fab coffee cup which she left behind when she retired...

There you go - hope that's not too deep for the T for Tuesday theme - and it will get better from here I assure you - I do have other inspirational people in my life - and they all help me be the person I am... I may share some of their stories in the coming weeks and months... Thanks Elizabeth.

WOYWW #215

Another week whizzes by...  A fabulous weekend was had with sister Cathy's visit - she brought a couple of stamps I requested... and a jaunt over to a friends house to trash her stash - lots of stamps borrowed...

At the back on top of my little drawers this week we still find my "color me" sheets - waiting for inspiration to hit - I have added a fragrant candle to my desk - I don't use heaters so when I snuggle up at night I light a lovely lavender candle to make me feel more cosy lol...

Now for a closer peek...

The two "black" images are the stamps my sister brought up for me to use - there are different colours stamped up underneath - the little chrissy lights were from my girlfriends stash and were fun to colour up with my aqua pens and H20's - and silver "twine" ready to string them but first there is some serious fussy cutting required... I will probably be finding these everywhere for months - just like confetti LOL
The amount of stamps my friend let me take out of her house is obscene - so many I couldn't spread them around - and I already have a drawer full still on loan from another friend - better not get them mixed up... Cathy stamped a few first - I cant wait til she does a card using the cactus!!!
And this is the second week a little bundle of fur has poked her head into a photo - can you see her??? I laughed my head off when I uploaded the pic...

That's it for this week - if you would like to take a tour around the crafty spaces of the world hop on over to Stamping Ground where our hostess Julia Dunnit does a fantastic job keeping everything running...         Thanks for stopping by... Mxx

EDIT: OOPS it happened again - went around everyone ending in 6 cos I was #86 - then went back and was #87 - even though I waited 30 mins before visiting LOL - so then I went and saw all the #7's as well....
