Birthday Dragonflies

I started with some newly bought designer paper from Kaisercraft that reminded me of some Japanese paper my sister used a while ago... its not the same  but I glean inspiration wherever I can - throw in a borrowed Stampin Up Dragonfly stamp and start running...

Well once I coloured the dragonflies with H20's I found they were too bright for the dp so I then coloured some of the dp with H20's to make some of the fronds it darker - its ok I think... then a Memory box label die also coloured with H20's sticker and base card from stash...

And her is an image to show how the dp looked before I coloured it...

Now that I think of it the dp looks like some old faded wallpaper from decades ago LOL...

Celebrate Christmas

Continuing to use my new double sided Christmas paper bought for 50c at Kaisercraft - this time I have used 2 strips of the stripe and turned it over using 1 strip from the other side - placed between lines made using my scoreboard on Gold base card also got at Kaisercraft 6 cards & envelopes for $1...

The red strip at the bottom is part of the stripey paper - I used a snippet of red card to stamp Celebrate on using a clear stamp of unknown origin... in gold encore metallic ink - which just doesn't photograph well - its ok IRL but next time I will emboss it... I used spellbinders Petite Scollop Ovals to cut it out and mounted it using foam squares... The slight distressed appearance is also part of the paper... a very quick and easy creation using leftover bits...

I am linking up to Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground Week 80 - yeehar - my turn on the roundabout... I just need to push gently move my sister out of the way... LOL

Poinsettia - 6

This card took ages to do - well sort of!! A girlfriend and I were going to go and see The Lone Ranger - but she said why don't we go to Kaisercraft instead!! What a question - of course...

WOW - bargains - unbelievable - some clear stamps that are normally $8 to $10 for $2 - so I got an extra set for my sister... that was 25% of my budget gone lol - I only planned to spend $20... some double sided papers at 50c each, a mini sentiment stamp and some fancy brads rounded it all off...
I go to pay and guess what - left my purse on the kitchen bench at home - good grief - luckily my friend was there with her card to cover me - when I got home we ran through how to distress cards and embossed squares with inks - that was fun - then when Amanda went home I started my card...
I really need to get my act together as Pixies Snippets Playground only had 31/2 hrs til its gates closed..
Almost done and had an urge to talk to Cathy [sister] - 30 mins later and after some good hearty belly laughs - all set to finish off - but ph call - another girlfriend - an hour later whew - I'm sure there is still time - hang on another ph call - its my Dad - another hour - here we go again....

Finally

Could not believe how well all this stuff hung together colour wise..
The striped paper from Kaisercraft, some snippets of green & red card die cut with my 2 poinsettia dies - Die-namics & Nellies nesting dies, the distressed background was created when demonstrating distressing to my girlfriend - we had cut out 3 squares from a folded card - then distressed over the folded card to show the squares underneath - using Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint - Bling & base card from stash...

Dang it - too late for Pixie's - but that's ok - I can always play on the swings and roundabout another time...

WOYWW #213

Hello WOYWWer's... hope everyone has had a fantastic week - I usually lose my momentum on Monday nights after a long day in front of the computer at work - but this week it has kept going and I was quite productive for a change. I like to think its cos of all the fabulous posts I can now see from all of the blogs I am following - and that's a big Thanks to Julie Dunnit - host of Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday every week... if you would like to visit creative spaces across the globe pop over to Stamping Ground and take a peek...

Now for my little piece of paradise [LOL]...

Last week I didn't have any chocolates on my desk and there were howls from the gallery so I grabbed a share bag of Lindt - but you better be quick - I know of people who come back for seconds LOL...

Also last week I showed off my bling and colour drawers - this week I have my "tidy" ribbon drawer out - my "untidy" ribbon drawer is safely stashed away with all its little snippets in plastic bags - doesn't look anywhere near as good...

My current project is a monochrome floral card - I stamped this Hero Arts Wildflower Garden [one of my sisters] and embossed it with sparkle ep over a year ago - and of course while looking for something else it took my fancy and made it to centre stage - along with the green paper I had out last week for use with Chrissy cards... underneath my glass cutting mat is the recipe for a custom made card - a friend saw a birthday card I made and wants it done as an anniversary card in different colours...

At the back on top of my tiny embellishment drawers are the snail & dragonfly stamps still out since last week along with wrapping tissue and an owl tag from a prize win thanks to the wonderful Di at Pixies Crafty Workshop - I am such a lucky girl...  on the right is the leftovers from my week into the world of Poinsettia cards and the "Color Me" scrapbooking sheets by Hot Off The Press that I obtained in 2010 and have been experimenting with ...

And finally - what do I keep under my table you ask??? Besides cat dander and fluff - its my tissues and knitting bag on the middle shelf - have been knitting a throw for my sofa for years... and underneath in a cute basket - card stock and envelopes within arms reach when I get going...

I was lucky enough to stock up two years ago when a "cheap" shop up here had 10 pre- packaged cards & envelopes in a wide range of colours for only $2.50 - didn't last long - the next day when I went back they had completely run out... wasn't me - I didn't do it LOL... the C6 card stock at the back was bought at a craft
show a few years ago too...
funny how stuff lasts for ages - then all of a sudden its gone!!

There you go - that's your lot for this week - now its my turn to traipse around spying on people checking out the creative peoples of the world...

Thanks heaps for stopping by... Mxx
