T for Tuesday #4

Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover hosts T for Tuesday each week - somewhere to share thoughts & ideas and a cuppa as well...

Very late to pay my dues in T for Tuesday this week but I have an excuse...

Its that point when you get told that the role you have been doing for 7 years - developing & changing to meet the needs of the business and banging your head against a brick wall to get recognised/upgraded - finally gets reviewed in a restructure - gets upgraded and you have to apply for it - & guess what - you don't have the desired skills/experience/qualifications to suit the new role!!!!
I didn't get the other role I applied for either...

I wont bore with the nitty gritty cos I am sure most of us have had some experience having your role made redundant at work - but I was very despondent yesterday and just couldn't get myself off the couch ...

Today I went into work and did my job such as it is without any pleasure - mulling over how to move forward and start looking for other positions within the business - but if I don't 11 days short of my 16 years on the 5th October I will be out of work... the payout wont cover the mortgage so its still a working life for me and it may well be a blessing in disguise - if I can crack it somewhere in the craft industry and get paid to cover the bills I will be laughing LOL...

So sorry for being late - and I promise I wont be morose about it all - Cheers... Mxx

  1. Sometimes I find it hard to comment on posts that are so deep and personal. I never know what to say. I just know things happen for a reason and you need to stay very alert in the days to come so you don't miss the opportunity that is waiting for you.
Even though your cup is in the sink...I see it as half full.

  4. Like the previous poster, I also find it hard to comment on personal posts when I don't really know the blogger, but I did want to stop by and say hello and show my support. I really believe there will be a good solution for you.

  6. OMG! I hate to hear that you're position is being made redundant!!! I have been through the same situation in the past and it sets you on your butt for a day or two... I was a registered nurse with an associates degree at the time and they decided the job needed a full BSN so I kept doing the job and even trained my successor before being let go! I have since got my BSN but Mother Nature had different plans for me and I am out of work on disability! Both caused a lot of identity issues but I persevered and I like where I am today! Hang in there it will get better...Thanks for stopping by my desk and commenting. Have a great week. Vickie #36

  8. I hope you didn't think I would miss this important post, because I would not. It's that my internet has been offline for nearly three days, and I just now saw your link.

I feel for you. I had a boss once who I trained. She got her position by being deceitful and manipulative. She couldn't do the job, so relied on others to inform her with things she took into meetings. When I left the company to pursue my Ph.D., she was lost. Several people told me she finally had to step down because she didn't have me to back her. At least that made me feel good. I might add, I quit on my anniversary date after 15 years of working my way up in that company.

You will find something better, but hang on a few more months. Dream big, and good things will happen, I am sure of it!
